This section provides answers to commonly asked questions regarding the ICKL.

What is the ICKL about?

The ICKL is a conference and forum for linguists and scholars working on any aspect of Kurdish varieties and their interactions with neighboring languages. It provides a collaborative space to present research, exchange ideas, and foster interdisciplinary dialogue. By bringing together researchers from diverse fields, the ICKL aims to advance the study and preservation of Kurdish languages.

When is the next ICKL?

The ICKL is a biennial conference, i.e., held every two years. The next ICKL is scheduled for 2027. For more details, please visit the Events Page.

What type of contributions are allowed?

We welcome contributions from all subfields of linguistics, provided they focus on Kurdish varieties. In previous conferences, we’ve proudly featured papers spanning a wide range of topics, including sociolinguistics, linguistic typology, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, historical linguistics, computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, language acquisition, language contact, and language policy. There are no strict thematic restrictions – each submission is evaluated individually on its merit.

Paper Submission

Paper Review

All abstracts undergo an anonymous peer-review process. To maintain anonymity, submissions should not include any identifying information, such as the author’s name, excessive references to their own publications, or acknowledgments to funding agencies or academic institutions.
